The state of Montana has something called a Homestead Exemption which protects the investment you have made in your primary home.
It's a simple document to prepare - and once it's notarized and recorded with Ravalli County, it protects up to $409,450 of value in your home against most creditor’s claims in times of financial hardship.
Life is unpredictable and you should always consider protecting the equity in your property.
