WATER RESOURCES
The Bitterroot Water Partnership has a ton of helpful material -- from stream flow, irrigation district contacts, historic ditch maps, and more! Find those resources here.
A quick note about water… there's a two step process now!
A DNRC water right is permission to use water from a well, spring, or specific source.
It defines how water can be used, not ownership of the water itself.
Ditch shares are different. They represent participation in a shared irrigation system, often built generations ago, with its own rules, maintenance, and senior water rights.
Fun fact: if you have BRID (Bitter Root Irrigation District) water on our property, you would find this information on your property taxes and not on the DNRC water right query system.
Click here to see if you have water rights with DRNC.
